About Me

I am a Messianic Jewish woman living in Israel (made aliyah from Canada several years ago).  I am blessed beyond measure but still looking for my 'besheret', as is written, Two are better than one."  I love nature, animals, reading, writing and also travelling.  I teach a Torah on-ine study group.

A woman's hair is her "Glory" and is given her for a covering. Her hair is the only covering she needs! A head covering only displays their independence.

Shalom Hannah,
Thanks for reply. . There seems to be quite a lot of opinions concerning head scarfs. I once wrote about it about 9 or so years ago in my book A Second Look At Christianity. Frankly don't remember much about what I said except it appears as though the head covering is for married women, and the covering indeed is to be a scarf not a hat, etc. I concluded that as a result of reading Isaiah chapter 3. However, like you said it appears as though it's only in the New Testament, but seems to be inferred in the Old. Regarding what men here think, it's hard to say as a group. Some insist the wife wear the scarf, others say it's up to the woman. Others say not necessary and prefer their wives not wear the scarf. Sooo... I am counting on the promises of a merciful God, Yah, as he is named in Psalm 68:4. I have worn the scarf for about three years and at that time thought it a good idea cause somewhere in the scriptures it refers to not having mirrors (glass images or looking glass can't recall right now the particulars) so I felt wearing the scarf was God's way of keeping his people presentable by wearing the scarf, cause there is not much need to spend time in front of a mirror fixing one's hair to just cover it with a scarf. :) Anyway since you are in Israel, I was wondering if you knew why or if the Jewish women wore the scarfs. By the way according to St. Paul, it appears as though the scarf is more to ward off the evil angels than a symbol of being under the man's authority. :) If you find out anything about the scarf, symbol of why wear, how they wear, who says they are supposed to wear etc, please let me know. Shalom
Also please do you know if the Messianic Jewish women wear the fringes, tassels, as mentioned in Numbers 15? Thanks for feedback.

What is the address of the torah on line study group? Could you please give me your understanding of why women wear scarfs on their heads.
